Below is a list of answers to frequently asked questions.

CCA Senior Care Options is a health plan for people aged 65 and over who have MassHealth Standard or who have MassHealth Standard and Medicare.

When you sign up for CCA Senior Care Options, you will get all the benefits of MassHealth Standard and Medicare—at $0 cost to you1.

As a Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA) member, you receive more than just a health plan. You get a full care team dedicated to you and your specific needs, which often combines health services with social support services that help you stay safe and independent at home.

With CCA Senior Care Options, you keep all the services you currently get through your MassHealth Standard coverage or Medicare benefits. Plus, you’ll add new services and benefits, at no cost to you.

In addition to coverage for primary and specialty medical care, preventive care, emergency care, X-rays, and lab tests, CCA Senior Care Options offers dental care, vision and hearing benefits, medical supplies and equipment, prescription drugs, and transportation. Plus, you get a Healthy Savings card to spend on healthy food and health-related products.

You’ll also have your own care partner and team dedicated to helping you live more safely and independently.

You won’t pay anything at all for CCA Senior Care Options. All your services come free of charge as part of your MassHealth Standard and Medicare benefit.

CCA Senior Care Options may be right for you if you meet these requirements:

Our CCA network of doctors is very large. There’s a good chance your current doctors and other providers are already part of it, and you would not have to make a change.

However, if you do need to find a new doctor or other provider in our CCA network, our team will be happy to help you find the right match for you.

To see if your current providers are in the CCA network, search the CCA Senior Care Options Provider Directory.

No. When you join CCA Senior Care Options you will keep MassHealth and Medicare.

Commonwealth Care Alliance works with MassHealth and Medicare plans to integrate services we offer. That means you will only be adding benefits or adding flexibility and coordination to your existing benefits. You will not lose services.

If you decide to go back to what you had before, you can do so at any time. Simply keep your MassHealth and Medicare cards in case you decide to disenroll. If that happens, simply go back to using your Medicare and MassHealth cards directly.

You can disenroll at any time if you are not satisfied. Your disenrollment will be effective on the last day of the month in which you let us know you want to leave the plan.

We are happy to say that most members are very happy with their CCA Senior Care Options experience.

The rules are different for those with MassHealth Standard and Medicare versus those who have MassHealth Standard only:

If you have MassHealth Standard and Medicare:
You can enroll anytime from January 1 to September 30. You may enroll one time per quarter, and your plan will begin the first day of the next month. Or, you may submit an application to join the plan during Medicare’s Annual Election Period, which runs from October 15 through December 7. In that case, your enrollment with CCA will begin on January 1.

If you have MassHealth Standard only:
If you have MassHealth Standard and do not have Medicare, you may enroll in the plan at any time. Your enrollment with CCA begins the first day of the next month.

Please note: There are some special situations that might qualify you for a special enrollment period and change your enrollment date.

To join CCA Senior Care Options, please call our team at 888-537-5816 (TTY 711). You can also fill out this quick form and we will be happy to call and set you up with an appointment with a licensed agent.
