Corey McCarty, General Manager for CCA in Rhode Island, joined Bill Bartholomew on the Bartholomewtown podcast to discuss the expansion of CCA into Rhode Island and its partnership with Lifespan to address complex medical needs and social determinants of health.

McCarty and Lifespan’s Dr. Alan Kurose discussed how increased collaboration between healthcare providers and health plans can streamline care delivery for patients and improve outcomes for traditionally hard-to-reach individuals.

McCarty noted that effectively serving members requires not only an understanding of their medical needs, but factors such as whether they have transportation to their appointments, food and housing security, and more.

“When you have to break down silos that are associated with social determinants of health, it requires you to be in the community and understand the real challenges you’re dealing with,” McCarty said.
