Kevin McKay, Vice President of Market Partnership Strategy at CCA Health Rhode Island, appeared on WJAR Studio 10 to discuss mental health trends in Rhode Island.
Alongside Chris Gadbois, CEO of Carelink Rhode Island, McKay discussed the importance of wraparound services to support CCA members’ behavioral health needs. At CCA Health, all members undergo a mental health screening as part of their enrollment process. This allows them to access healthcare that integrates behavioral and medical healthcare.
“Someone with a chronic condition may struggle to manage it if they also have depression or anxiety. Sometimes a chronic condition can cause anxiety or depression. Treating one without the other doesn’t make sense, so we have to care for the whole person,” he explained.
