New Resource to Providers - Payment Policy Program

The Commonwealth Care Alliance Payment Policy Program has been implemented to give providers guidance on CCA’s operations and billing practices. The goal of this program is to ensure accurate claims reimbursement and payment integrity. Policies will include reimbursement methodologies and acceptable billing practices that help healthcare providers bill claims accurately and reduce payment delays. The policies are intended to reduce confusion in navigating the claims process and help avoid denials that result in rebilling.

Important Notices

Commonwealth Care Alliance makes changes for 2017

Commonwealth Care Alliance (CCA) has updated the list of services that require prior authorization. For a complete current list, please refer to the our Provider Manual. Formulary changes have also been made effective January 1, 2017, and can be found in the 2017 Senior Care Options (SCO) Formulary, MassHealth Only Formulary, and One Care Formulary. In addition, effective January 1, 2017, we have a preferred arrangement with ABBOTT Diabetes Supplies for Glucometer and test strips, which must be obtained through the CCA pharmacy network.

Part D Prescriber Enrollment

In order to be a CCA participating provider, any physician or other eligible professional who prescribes Part D drugs must enroll and opt in to the Medicare program. This requirement is being enforced by CCA now to preempt CMS enforcement of the prescriber enrollment requirement, which will begin on January 1, 2019. For more information about the CMS requirement or to enroll, please go to: Thank you for your cooperation.
