Website Accessibility Policy
The CCA website aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA rating
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)* created by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)* are largely regarded as the international standard for accessibility.
The Commonwealth Care Alliance policy specifies that we implement and adhere to the W3C WCAG 2.1 level AA. You can learn more about these guidelines in several ways:
- Most people prefer to start with the one-page WCAG at-a-glance* version.
- The detailed technical recommendations* are extensive and comprehensive. Allow yourself time to learn them.
- The How to Meet WCAG 2.0 Quick Reference* allows you to filter sections so the page only displays information relevant to your current goals.
AA accessibility features of this website include:
- Color contrasts that assist with accessibility
- Text that can be resized
- Page layouts that are flexible, with pages that automatically resize according to the width of the browser window
- Images accompanied by appropriate alternative text that can be read by screen readers
This website also meets some 2.1 AAA guidelines, including:
- All functionality of the content is operable through a keyboard interface without requiring specific timings for individual keystrokes.
- Web pages do not contain anything that flashes more than three times in any one-second period.
- Information about the user’s location within a set of web pages is available.
- Section headings are used to organize the content.
- A mechanism is available to allow the purpose of each link to be identified from link text alone, except where the purpose of the link would be ambiguous to users in general.

To ensure that our website continues to offer a high level of accessibility, we perform periodic accessibility audits using a range of testing tools to flag and address errors. While CCA aims to adhere to the accepted guidelines and standards for accessibility and usability, rapid changes in technology mean it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website. We are always looking for solutions to address any accessibility issues.
