In an opinion-editorial in the Detroit News, Linda Perkins, RN, Director of Clinical Operations for CCA Health Michigan, discusses the prevalence of heart disease and ways that individuals can lower their risk through education and action.

“Nearly half of adults have hypertension, and Michigan is among the states with the highest prevalence. Alarmingly, most people don’t even know they have it, hence its nickname, “the silent killer.” These conditions impact day-to-day living and put you at risk for potentially fatal conditions such as heart attacks and stroke. Fortunately, the more facts that are known, the more we normalize and prioritize screening for them.”
