CCA Health Michigan General Manager Brian Keane wrote an op-ed in The Detroit News discussing the prevalence of financial insecurity in Michigan households. Financial constraints can lead to housing and food insecurity, which can lead to poor healthcare outcomes, he explained.
“While the impact of socioeconomic factors on health is nothing new, the end of the COVID-19 federal emergency, Medicaid redeterminations and cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) may exacerbate the struggles across our communities,” he wrote.
Keane noted that key stakeholders “must collaborate and communicate to identify those at risk and develop solutions that address the full spectrum of needs for a higher quality of life across Michigan.”
