Chef Omi Hopper to share her process of preparing home-cooked, traditional Puerto Rican meals using fresh, nutrient-rich, healthy ingredients
WHAT: As part of its long-term efforts to address food insecurity in Rhode Island and raise awareness about the importance of healthy and balanced meals, CCA Health Rhode Island is teaming up with a locally based social media chef and food influencer to host a “Healthy Cooking Demonstration” in Woonsocket next week.
CCA Health Rhode Island will partner with Omi Hopper, the creator and host of the popular Cooking Con Omi social media and YouTube series, to host this event at the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Rhode Island’s Woonsocket Clubhouse on November 9.
During the event, which is free to attend and open to the public on a first-come-first-served basis until capacity is reached, Chef Omi will walk the audience through her process of preparing a traditional, home-cooked Puerto Rican meal using fresh, nutrient-rich ingredients. Small-bite samples will be available for attendees after the presentation.
CCA Health Rhode Island and several of its partners across Rhode Island’s healthcare landscape will also host information booths on-site to educate attendees about available resources and supports related to their overall health and well-being.
