PROVIDENCE, R.I. – August 30, 2021 – Commonwealth Care Alliance® (CCA), a nationally recognized not-for-profit, community-based, integrated healthcare organization focused on care and coordination for high-cost, high-needs individuals, today announced it is committing nearly $60,000 in an effort to address food insecurity in Rhode Island.
CCA’s donations will support three local organizations whose missions are to help homebound senior citizens and other Rhode Islanders in need access healthy, nutritious meals on a year-round basis. The organizations CCA is supporting include:
“As a healthcare organization dedicated to serving high-risk, traditionally hard-to-reach individuals, we at CCA have a first-hand understanding of the impact hunger and other social determinants of health can have on a person’s overall health and well-being,” said Corey McCarty, Rhode Island general manager, Commonwealth Care Alliance. “We are incredibly proud to support the great work these three organizations are doing to address food insecurity, which is making a real difference in the health and well-being of Rhode Islanders from all across the state.”
CCA will offer a range of Medicare plans in Rhode Island beginning for enrollment on January 1, 2022, marking the organization’s first-ever market expansion outside of Massachusetts.
