Dr. Laura Clapper, Medical Director for CCA Health California, wrote a guide in The Outlook discussing common myths about what happens when people age. She discusses the importance of getting an annual physical, even for those with no known illnesses or conditions. She also explains that severe memory and hearing loss are not inevitable parts of aging.

In addition, Dr. Clapper emphasizes the importance of wearing sunscreen. She also notes the immense benefits of quitting smoking at any age.

“It’s never too late to quit smoking. We start to see health improving, believe it or not, within 24 hours after someone quits,” she wrote.
