CCA President and CEO Chris Palmieri used his previous experience with major disasters to safeguard staff and public safety during the coronavirus pandemic

“When (the pandemic) hit in the U.S. and then in Massachusetts, we knew exactly what to do, and we were prepared,” CCA President and CEO Chris Palmieri told Modern Healthcare about the company’s response to COVID-19. CCA’s 1,400 employees began working from home mid-March, and received office equipment and an Internet stipend to aid the transition to remote work. Employees also received a mandated day off and access to virtual fitness classes and counseling through an employee assistance program. “We thought it would be a good investment in our workforce to keep them in sound mind and body,” Palmieri said. “It’s the right thing to do.”
