With urgent care centers closing throughout Massachusetts and emergency department wait times still increasing, care options may be limited and can fall short of a member’s needs. Great disparity lies with members with significant healthcare needs, who may be wary of hospital admissions, may be unwilling to leave their home for care, or are unable to get to their provider’s office timely or at all for their urgent care needs. instED is a great resource for these members. instED’s in-home urgent care services are available to CCA members in Massachusetts and Rhode Island at no charge.

With instED, clinicians and care teams have options when requesting visits. You can request a same day visit to address a timely urgent care need and can also request a planned visit for members up to two days in advance. By planning an instED visit in advance, you may help prevent unnecessary ED visits and stress. instED’s service hours are 10a.m. to 10p.m. 365 days a year, including weekends and all holidays. instED’s service area includes all of Massachusetts, except the Cape and the islands; and all of Rhode Island, except Block and Prudence islands.

How can you request a visit?

CCA members and their caregivers can make visit requests directly, therefore we remind you to confirm that you are listed as a member of your patient’s clinical care team in the instED Now Platform. This will ensure that you get notified when a member requests a visit.

We encourage you to attend an instED virtual training session hosted on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of every month on Microsoft Teams from 3-4p.m. Attending at least one session is recommended for all new clinicians and clinical care team members, and as a refresher for those previously trained that have yet to request an instED visit.

If you would like to attend a training to learn about the service, capabilities and how to request a visit, need assistance with access to our platforms, or for any other questions about in-home urgent care for your patients, please email Lauren Gray at [email protected].
