With the increasing popularity of mobile integrated health programs for at-home urgent care needs, it’s possible your patients who are Commonwealth Care Alliance, Inc. (CCA) members may ask about instED. Here’s what you need to know if you want to refer a patient:

instED is an in-home urgent care service offering a convenient alternative to the emergency department (ED) and is available to all CCA members at no charge. Care teams have the option to request same-day visits to address urgent care needs, or may schedule visits up to two days in advance. Planning an instED visit in advance can help prevent a hospital readmission or another avoidable ED visit. instED visits are available daily from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m., 365 days a year, including weekends and all holidays. instED sees CCA members throughout all of Massachusetts, except Cape Cod and the islands; and all of Rhode Island, except Block and Prudence Islands.

How can you request a visit? Click, Tap, or Call.

CCA members and their caregivers are also able to schedule visits directly, so please confirm that you are listed as a part of your patient’s clinical care team in the instED Now platform. This will ensure that you are notified when an instED visit is requested for your patient.

instED hosts live, virtual training sessions on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month via Microsoft Teams from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m. These sessions include an overview of the service and how to access care for your patients. Training is open to all practice staff. To attend a training session, or for any questions about in-home urgent care for your patients, please email Lauren Gray at [email protected].
